Kathryn co-founded an art advocacty studio, TOSS (The Old School Studio) in Morganton, summer 2015, with her sister Kirksey Lowther. Their aim is to promote and assist artists and art students in Burke County through education, a residency program, and a resource center.

TOSSafter, an after-school art program, is the first initiative which launched September, 2015.
